Reflections on "Embrace the Fool" 2008-03-07

"Music has always been very important to me. Music teaches me how to lead this life, makes me feel at ease and guides me through periods of despair. She gives me peace and leads me deep inside to my own safe haven, and far away to distant shores, unknown places, brings me to new friends and pristine ideas. I could’ve never expected that the songs I wrote as a child, for myself, to ease the pain, would eventually reach so many people. But the spirit has a strong will. Back in 2001 I decided to go to Ireland to attend a workshop by Brendan Perry. I had been a long time admirer of his work and this was a great opportunity to learn more about music, percussion and myself. I learned that music is a universal language that binds us all. I can not tell you how important this lesson has been for me. At another workshop in 2003 in Ireland I met Marcel Schiborr, a fellow traveller in search of the meaning of this life. It was our music that had led us to this forsaken place and it was music that we shared and took with us when we went home. By then I could not expect that we would share such a passion, all I knew is that we had to create music together. And that’s what we did. Not bothered by space and time we slowly started to write songs together and by the beginning of 2005 we released our first demo. We received so many positive reactions we decided to join MySpace in 2006. Just a few weeks later we were signed with Equilibrium and the rest is history! We now have our first CD out titled "Embrace the Fool". In my wildest dreams I would’ve never ever thought to have a record out of my own! I can remember I’ve told Marcel that if I could reach just one person who would feel touched by our music I would be the most happiest person in the world. It is heart-warming to receive so many messages from people who find peace in our music and are touched to the soul. I find it hard to write about it, as it is all so overwhelming. All I know is that we’ve so much more ideas that have to come to flourish in the near future. New songs are on the way and more concerts on the road. I am really looking forward to our gig at the 27th of April, where we’ll finally meet the Equilibrium crew and our fellow bands from the label: The Moon and the Nightspirit and Hexperos. Poets debut available now on Equilibrium Music! 2007-09-28

At the end of November 2006, Poets started to work on the recordings of their first album, which is now finally available! The schedule was very tight, but they managed to record 13 songs in less than eight days! The recordings took place in the "Sounds of Steel" studios near Herne, Germany, where Marcel lives. All songs were written and performed by Saskia and Marcel. Sjanneke van Herpen added a great new dimension with her cello and violin on 6 of the tracks. The album, under the title "Embrace the Fool", is released in Digipak CD format, complete with a booklet with lyrics and photos!
